The genetic mistreatment of Mini Toys - Teacup
Since March 2007 the FCI (International Cynological Federation) has established that the smallest size of the Poodle is the toy one and must have a height at the withers between 24 and 28 cm with a tolerance of 1 cm.
In recent years the attraction of the increasingly smaller dog sponsored by social media supporters of fashions and fueled by the patrons of easy money and the elusive pawnshop breeders, has given rise to a genetic mistreatment of the poodle, miniaturizing it to the point of unbelievability, so we will hear of the Mini Toy Poodle defined when the withers range from 20 to 22 cm and of the Teacup Poodle so small that it fits inside a cup when the withers range from 17 to 19 cm.

In order to be defined as such, a breeder must adhere to an ethical code which contemplates respect for the genetic traits recognized by the dog association of the specific dog breed with the aim of preserving and improving it.

Not everyone breeds with science and conscience and small is not always synonymous with harmonious and healthy, above all you must pay attention to the signs of dwarfism (round eyes, wide occiput, short nasal bridge, short legs, curved column etc...) in these There are very few sizes for the poodle, which is why the dog association has imposed a size limit that should not be exceeded.
ATTENTION!!! We do not consider Mini Toy and Teacup to be sizes worth looking for, they are not suitable for children due to their small size and therefore much thinner and more fragile frame, a fall even from a minimum height can be lethal.
Their health depends a lot on us, a small body heats up and cools down faster than a large one.
Very important for all dogs but in this case the lifestyle and diet is also fundamental, therefore you cannot afford to skip a meal (they need frequent small meals) or small mistakes, a drop in blood sugar or an intestinal problem it could be lethal for such a small and delicate body.
